Welcome to the “How to connect to Google Sheets” tutorial.
This tutorial aims to give you an overview of the Google Sheets connector and to touch on some high level concepts such as how to authorize access to Google Sheets and how to define a query.
Authorizing Access
If you haven’t done so already, authorize the access of Analytics Canvas to Google Sheets on your computer.
To authorize Google Sheets access:
Step 1. Select “Authorize New Account” and then “Google (GA, Sheets)”.
Step 2. Select “Read Google Sheets from Google Drive” and click the “Authorize” button.
Step 3. Analytics Canvas will redirect you to Google’s website, where you can log in with your credentials and grant the permission to Analytics Canvas to access your Google Sheets data. Note: You can revoke Google Sheets access at any time.
Note: When you authorize Analytics Canvas on your desktop, you are only granting access to your own computer- no one else gets access to your data.
Connecting to Google Sheets data
To connect to Google Sheets data:
Step 1. Select “Google Spreadsheet” from the New Source menu.
Step 2. Select the profile(s) from which you want to extract the data.
Step 3. Select a Google Sheets file that you would like to import.
Step 4. Select data to import from Google Sheet, and click “OK”.
